Geophysical measurements were the basis of plate tectonics - a theory of the 2nd half of the last century. Our view has changed due to the idea of seafloor spreading and geomagnetic reversals. On the basis of the continental drift the different geophysical methods proved the - in the meanwhile - well established theory: These were magnetic measurements, earthquake data, dating, gravimetric- , and electric- and heat flow- measurements. The regional structures on our planet are demonstrated. Measurements of plate movements are the basis of the first world wide models. All this is the basis of the future solution of open questions.
