Aims, contents and method of the course

Day 1 – Introduction, aims and terminology; Fault zone structures;
Brittle deformation analysis;
Day 2 – Mechanical stratigraphy, Evolution, propagation and infilling of joints;
Methods for quantification of brittle deformation at different scales.
Day 3 – Fault zone evolution, 4D distribution of the associated brittle deformation
features, and implications for subsurface fluid flow.
Day 4 – Evolution of fault-related folds, 4D distribution of the associated brittle
deformation features, and implications for subsurface fluid flow.
Day 5 – Faults in sandstones: structure, petrophysics and fluid flow; Deformation
bands; Scaling laws.
