Information

Aims, contents and method of the course

This course will give an introduction to Fortran 95, one of the most widely used programming languages in weather and climate modelling. At the end of the semester, students can:
* Explain the functionality and most important programming structures of Fortran 95
* Develop and run simple as well as more complex Fortran 95 programs
* Analyze, understand, and adapt existing Fortran 95 code
* Discretize physical equations and solve them numerically

Assessment and permitted materials

Weekly exercises, end of semester project

Minimum requirements and assessment criteria

The grade will be based 70% on the exercises and 30% on the end of semester project.
Every exercise counts as partial achievement, and all partial achievements have to be completed.
