Aims, contents and method of the course

Numerische Modelle des Klimasystems und seiner Komponenten sind wichtige Werkzeuge der modernen Klimaforschung. Die Vorlesung gibt eine Einführung in Grundlagen und Methoden der Klimamodellierung, insbesondere zu folgenden Themen: Klimasystem, Geschichte der Klimamodellierung, Hierarchie von Klimamodellen, Atmosphärendynamik und -modellierung, Strahlungstransport, Ozeanmodellierung, Eismodellierung, Modellkopplung, Qualitätskontrolle, Anwendungsbeispiele.
