Information
Aims, contents and method of the course
In this course, the topics covered in the lecture Introduction to Astronomy are covered in depth. The course is a voluntary exam preparation exercise that is held in parallel to the STEOP Astronomy. At each session, the lecture material of the previous week is covered with the help of calculation exercises and discussions. The knowledge of the material is also assessed by means of weekly mini-tests. At the end, there will be an overall test, which is based on the format and content of the corresponding lecture exam.
Assessment and permitted materials
Weekly exercises (64 possible points in total), weekly mini-tests (32 possible points in total), overall test at the end (likely in January) with 34 possible points. The exercises are largely based on the lecture material. Completed exercises are uploaded to Moodle and crossed off ("Kreuzerl"). Crossed-off examples only count if you are present in the exercise units. Students can be asked to give blackboard presentations on the exercises they have crossed off.
Minimum requirements and assessment criteria
For a positive grade, at least 65 points out of a total of 130 possible points must be achieved. The individual parts do not have to be fulfilled to a certain level, only the overall score (=sum of points) is relevant. The detailed grading scheme can be found on Moodle. Points are always given as integers. Blackboard presentations of the exercises are counted as bonus points for the overall score.
