Aims, contents and method of the course

- Historical introduction - Solid matter in space - Basics of cosmochemistry - Overview:
classification of meteorites - Parent bodies of meteorites - Chondrites, chondrules and
the early solar system - Calcium-aluminum-rich inclusions - Presolar grains: a link to
stardust - Dust formation around evolved stars, supernovae etc. - Excursion to the
meteorite hall of the Museum of Natural History - Practical work with thin sections of
meteorites under the microscope
