Information

Aims, contents and method of the course

Star formation lies at the crossroads of planet and galaxy formation and evolution, so, naturally, understanding how diffuse gas becomes stars and planets is one of the greatest unsolved problems in Astrophysics. In this Seminar, each participating student will present a recent refereed paper taken from the Star Formation Newsletter ( starformation.news ) and will stimulate a discussion by pointing out aspects she/he finds interesting and clear as well as aspects she/he does not understand. Following the presentation, the class will discuss the paper's results critically.

Assessment and permitted materials

(a) Minimum 80% presence throughout the semester.
If (a) is fulfilled, the grade will be a combination of
(b) active participation (50%) and
(c) the quality of the paper presentation (50%).

Minimum requirements and assessment criteria

(a) Minimum 80% presence throughout the semester.

Examination topics

Reading list

All papers will come from starformation.news (Star Formation Newsletter). Students are free to choose a paper on a topic that interests them. A list of recommended papers will be presented on the Moodle
