Information

Aims, contents and method of the course

Terrestrial planets form after the gas phase of a planetary system thus we can study this stage of formation by N-body simulations. The topic will be discussed in detail with presentations of current and review studies.
In the seminar, we will discuss the following topics:
(i) Numerical methods used for these studies, including advantages and disadvantages
(ii) Collisions of planetesimals and planetary embryos
(iii) Water transport into the habitable zone
(iv) Comparison of terrestrial planets in single and binary stars.
