Aims, contents and method of the course

Prerequisite: no prerequisite. The course is designed for First Year students of the MSc Programme in Geography.
Intent of course: Physical geography is an area of study that connects people to their physical world. Physical geography examines the world as a system of interacting parts and explores the processes and feedbacks between the lithosphere (rocks), hydrosphere (water), atmosphere (air), and biosphere (living things). Since people and human populations are a part of the global system, we also consider how human activities are changing these systems, both globally and locally.
Lecture material: Relevant materials will be provided on a class website.
Nature of examination: Written exam based on lecture - attending class is essential!
