Information

Aims, contents and method of the course

The aim of this course is to provide the students with a well-founded introduction to the broad spectrum of cartography and geoinformation processing and to demonstrate their potential.
This is achieved through the theoretical and methodical examination of GIS (Geographic Information Systems) and Graphical Data Processing. Starting from the structure of a geodatabase, over the basic analysis and evaluation procedures up to the visualization possibilities, insight into the processing of spatial facts is given. The main focus will be on the issues of the geo-sciences.
EH01-cartography: Administrative, topics, exercises, assessment, examples of maps, questionnaire (AR/KK/AP)
EH02-cartography: Cartography as a science, model building (KK)
EH03-cartography: Basics of cartography, geospatial data basics (AP)
EH04-cartography: Topographical cartography (KK)
EH05-cartography: Thematic cartography (AP)
EH06-GIS: Applied Concepts/Definitions/Fields of Application and Application Areas (AR)
EH07-GIS: Hardware and software aspects, incl. databases (AR)
EH08-GIS: Geodata, analysis functions (AR)
EH09-GIS: Image processing and remote sensing (AR)
EH10-GIS: Spatial reference in geoinformation processing, data sources (AR)

Assessment and permitted materials

Final exam (MultipleChoice, SingleChoice), no aids allowed.

Minimum requirements and assessment criteria

Assessment is by means of a MultipleChoice/SingleChoice (online) Exam. Positive completion is given from an overall score of 51%.
