The final mark is made up of 15% from the cooperation (attendance, active participation), 25% from the exercises, 30% from the semester project and 30% from the practical test at the end of the course.

Information

Aims, contents and method of the course

After completing the course, students should be able to apply the theoretical basic knowledge of the lecture in practice. They should be able to apply simple processing, analysis and layout functions using GIS software. This essentially includes the integration of statistical data and their connection with geometry, as well as the cartographic visualisation of the result in the form of area and figure cartograms.

4. define reference system
5. load, link and export tables
6. edit, add and calculate attributes
7. legend styles and classification methods
8. data aggregation applying summarize and dissolve function
9. designing and editing symbols (signatures)
10. main map versus overview map
11. map layout, its features and generation in GIS
12. map preparation for other software

Discussion and practical work using Desktop GIS on the PC.
