Information
Aims, contents and method of the course
The course offers an introduction to the sciences related with spatial information with a focus on geographic information science. Mathematical methods for spatial information handling such as logic, set theory, relations, algebra, topology, and ordered sets are discussed as well.
Assessment and permitted materials
The assessment is done by written assignments, discussions and assessments during the course.
Minimum requirements and assessment criteria
At the successful completion of the course students should understand the context of geographic information science and be able to understand, explain and apply mathematical theories to spatial data handling.
Examination topics
The course contents are taught through lectures and practical examples. Students will be required to work out assignments.
