Information
Aims, contents and method of the course
Qualitative methods are an integral part of the method mix in geography. The course "Conducting and evaluating qualitative interviews" serves to get to know empirical qualitative data collection based on in-depth interviews, whereby focus group interviews and grounded theory are dealt with more intensively; the possibilities of software-supported analysis are also discussed.
Assessment and permitted materials
At the beginning of the course, the students get an insight into the performance assessment. In addition to being present and participating actively, there are other aspects that are taken into consideration: finding a focus group on the subject of climate change, preparing and conducting two focus group interviews (one in an active role as an interviewer, one as an observer), and the preparation of the data material (transcript, analysis) expected of the students. In addition, the independent study of compulsory literature is required (provided via moodle).
