290096 EX Study tour abroad: Tirana and South Albania (2007S)

Provisional route of the 10 days excursion (still subject to eventual modifications): Flight Vienna - Korfu (GR), boat transfer Korfu - Saranda, bus trip Saranda - Gjirokastra - Korca - Pogradec at Lake Ohrid - Elbasan - Tirana (3 full days) - Durres - Fier - Vlora - Saranda, by boat to Korfu, return flight Korfu - Vienna.
In co-operation with Albanian geographers the following major topics will be covered by visits and presentations: historical roles of what is today Albania, cultural influences on the Albanians throughout history, the Albanian state and Albanian national identity, denominations in Albania, national and ethnic minorities in Albania, migration processes after the fall of Communism, state and development of the rural space, the situation of agriculture, tourism potential and tourism development, the situation in the Albanian-Greek borderlands, transborder relations, the Communist heritage, urban development of Tirana.
