Aims, contents and method of the course
Different field techniques in glaciology will be learned both theoretical as well practical in the form of small projects (with the opportunity to choose between different specified tasks in glaciology or glacial hydrology). Important theoretical basics will be taught in an introductory part of the course. However, to realize the necessary measurements and field works of the chosen task a four to five days long field work campaign in the Hohe Tauern region will be the major part of the course. Participants of the course will learn to carry out all stages of a high alpine field campaign including preparation and planning - execution - data processing - reporting. Within the field campaign all fieldwork has to be documented by the participants and results of the field work (results of chosen task) has to be presented in the final part of the course.ECTS credit points: 4.0
