Aims, contents and method of the course

The phenomenon and its facets; problems of terminology; data availability; the significance of home in the conduct of life; place attachment and place identity; typologies; 'complex terms'; theories; the impact of residential multi-locality on
social and (regional) economic conditions.

Minimum requirements and assessment criteria

The students should become familiar with the phenomenon of residential multi-locality and its diverse facets; they should be able to place its emergence in the general socio-economic trends and developments of Second Modernity/Late Modernity and provide theoretical explanations.

Examination topics

Teacher-centred teaching with discussions and reading list.

A comprehensive list of relevant literature will be provided on Moodle.
