Information

Aims, contents and method of the course

In its first part the lecture will focus on current challenges spatial planning is faced with in Austria and Germany. Main topics are spatial planning strategies at regional and at municipal level. Stemming land consumption, prevention of urban sprawl and approaches to enhancing cooperative planning routines at regional level will be some of the covered topics.

The second part deals with aims, measures, instruments, institutions and actors of regional policy in Austria and the European Union. Based on current strategy documents, programmes and projects, the course shows main trends and challenges of European regional policy, the implementation of measures on different spatial scales and their evaluation. Topics are among others promotion of infrastructure development, businesses, human capital and innovation, which are looked at in the light of the overall goals of cohesion, growth, stability and sustainability.

Assessment and permitted materials

Written exam at the end of the course. Due to the COVID-Virus examination mode can be adapted at short notice. See information on moodle for the mode of the exams. Registration for the exam as usual via uspace!
