Information

Aims, contents and method of the course

During the last decades fertility rates have been decreasing continuously in all parts of the world. Only two decades ago, this phenomenon was considered to be typical mostly for the developed world, but the dynamics of fertility reduction, changing mortality patterns etc. has been increasingly shifting to the developing countries in recent years. However, the consequences of these trends are judged differently by experts from various fields of population research. Aim of this course is to discuss global demographic trends and their (potential) consequences as well as the validity of current demographic concepts and theories.
