Aims, contents and method of the course

This lecture aims at
• defining the business terminology
• revealing complex business coherences
• discussing relations and differences between economics and business
• confronting students with business perspectives
• providing future teachers a basis of business
• offering the foundation for the subsequent seminar
The lecture reflects the framework in which profit and non-profit organisations work. It focusses on the core topics of management, marketing and innovation, production and logistics, finance and accounting as well as the relation among these issues. Students are invited to actively participate and interact. Theory is explained by an invented example.

Assessment and permitted materials

There will be one final exam at the end of the semester as well as of the beginning, mid, and end of the subsequent semester.

The exam comprises MC-questions. Each MC question relates to one point if answered correctly. (no partial points, negative points). The moodle questionnaire is applied. Students are allowed a non-intelligent pocket calculator and a simple, non-economic dictionary.

Minimum requirements and assessment criteria

1 question = 1 point. 50% of all points are necessary to be positive, 50% 62% for (4), 63% 74% for (3), 75% 87% for (2) and 88% 100% for (1).

Examination topics

The exam comprises all topics from the lecture, the transparencies in moodle as well as the given literature.
