Aims, contents and method of the course

In this course, fundamentals of Geomorpholgy will be discussed. Based on the lecture "Introduction to Geomorphology" specific topics will be further elaborated with particular reference to regional similarities as well as distinctions. In geomorphology, the methodological development is significant and lead to numerous new findings.
Based on selected examples, these fundamentals will be reviewed for different geomorphic processes and related to the new findings. It is aimed to reflect these new results in the light of system theory approaches. In addition, the human / environment interaction will be reviewed and discussed with respect to the importance for geomorphology.
