Information
Aims, contents and method of the course
Starting with the climate system the students should be made familiar with the basic concepts of climate and the water cycle. This encompasses the discussion of the frame within climate evolves and a simplified description of selected processes. Based on that, different possibilities to visualize climate will also be shown as different ways to classify it. This lecture is an introductory course for Geography students in the first year. The focus in the hydro geography part of this lecture is on the water balance and its components! An overview is given about reservoirs, like groundwater, glaciers, lakes and fluxes like evaporation, precipitation and rivers! For both parts, the climate and water cycle, two book chapters are the basic literature!
