Aims, contents and method of the course

The course is drafted to provide a critical understanding of the opportunities and limitations of spatial planning strategies. Current trends and challenges of rural areas are examined and discussed in detail based on a specific case study. The focus will be on the supervised work on a specific research topic in small groups, starting with the development of a research concept and ending with the presentation of the results in a way that suits the target group. After completing the course, students will be able to deal independently with human geography and spatial planning issues, plan small research projects and present the results in a professional manner. The emphasis will be on the assessment as well as the implementation of the already learned methods and concepts.

Presence, participation and discussion spirit (10%)
Submission of the research concept (20%)
Short presentation of an interim status (10%)
Submission of a poster and presentation in a poster session (30%)
Submission of a policy paper (30%)
