Information

Aims, contents and method of the course

- To understand the importance of measuring and monitoring greenhouse gas (GHG) exchange between atmosphere and biosphere
- to understand the different greenhouse gas measurement techniques
- To get practical experience of taking GHG measurements applying the closed chamber technique
- To get practical experience of taking GHG measurements applying the eddy covariance technique
The course will be taught through lectures, practical exercises and a field excursion to a nearby GHG measurement station (Lake Neusiedl). You will gain practical experience of working on GHG measurements and data and we hope that you will gain ideas for your final thesis.

Assessment and permitted materials

Submissions, small self-chosen project of measuring GHG in teams of 2-3 people + presentation of results + scientific documentation, participation

Minimum requirements and assessment criteria

10% Participation (during lecture + excursion)
40% Submissions (10% each)
50% Project (presentation and scientific documentation)

Examination topics

Key:
≥ 87% = „Very good“
≥ 75% = „Good“
≥ 63% = „Satisfactory“
≥ 50% = „Sufficient“
< 50% = „Deficient“
