Aims, contents and method of the course

Introduction to General Economic Geography
Course graduates shall become familiar with some relevant concepts of economic geography and acquire the ability to comprehend and interpret simple texts relating to economic geography. They should know about the basic principles of economic processes and structures as well as be able to employ these basic concepts for describing the spatiality of economic processes and discuss the position of economic geography in relation to other economic sciences. In the first module we will analyse the development of economic geography, part 2 deals with the basic principles and conditions of economy. The next part is dedicated to the spatiality of economic processes. In module 4, the most relevant theories of location are discussed. Chapter 5 focuses on development theories.
