* Getting familiar with basic concepts, aims and instruments of economic policy
* Discussion of the basic paradigms of economic policy and their consequenses on real policy
* Getting to know the basics and the tendencies of employment policy
* Knowledge of labour market theories and explanations for (ethnically) segmented labour markets
* Realize the relations between economic and employment policies on the one hand and migrations policies and processes of labour migration on the other.
It will most frequently be referred to the European Union and Austria. After the introduction into economic policy we will mainly deal with labour market and employment policy (including some aspects of social policy). The connection to international labour migration and the immigration to Austria and the European Union is given special emphasis in the relevant units.
