Seminar: European Spatial Planning: Background and ProspectsThe seminar discusses the concept of planning culture and how the various approaches to planning in Europe are reflected in the European Spatial Development Perspective. It analyses the making of this remarkable inter-governmental document and reflects on planning under 'multi-level governance' in Europe. The seminar also confronts the thorny issue of the future of European spatial planning, possibly under the flag of territorial cohesion policy. This is done under the assumption of the Treaty on establishing a Constitution for Europe being ratified, as well as under the assumption of current arrangements continuing, an assumption now likely to be valid for some considerable time into the future. The seminar ends by asking for the relevance of all these effort for European integration and for planning in the Member States.ECTS Punkte (ECTS credit points): 4
