Aims, contents and method of the course

The aim of the lecture is to give participants insight into (relational) databases. Furthermore, the students should be equipped with basics of the SQL syntax.
After completion this course, students should be able to design a database as well as to implement it into a DBMS.
The course offers an introduction to (relational) databases. The following topics will be discussed: definitions, E/R-model, relational model, SQL
Lecture, discussion and practice with MySQL / Maria DB.

Assessment of the final project, knowledge review

Minimum requirements and assessment criteria

Assessment of a final project, which consists of two sub-areas:
Design of a data base (40 % of the final mark)
Implementation of the developed data base design (30 % of the final mark)
Knowledge review (30% of final mark)
