Aims, contents and method of the course

The course examines several topics in measuring and managing the value of companies. We focus on valuation concepts, the modern portfolio theory, the modern capital market theory, different cash flow concepts, the flow to equity, free cash flows, the cost of capital, discounted cash flow methods, the equity approach, the entity approach, the adjusted present value approach and the due diligence. The course will take the form of workshop sessions, placing particular emphasis on student presentations and critical discussion. The assessment will take the form of preparation and presentation of a critical review paper on a particular valuation issue.
