Information
Aims, contents and method of the course
The course offers the principles of spatial reference systems and map projections. Spatial reference is a fundamental characteristic of geodata. This reference can be represented and visualized in various ways. The following subjects will be treated: shape and size of the earth, reference spheroids, coordinate systems, theory of distortion, mathematical principles of map projections, major map projections.
Assessment and permitted materials
Assessment will be done by two interim tests and one final test as well as assignments. The tests are closed book tests.
Minimum requirements and assessment criteria
For each of the three tests and the assignments 20 points can be achieved. In total 80 points are possible. To pass the course at least 48 points must be achieved. For the grading scale refer to the Moodle page of the course.
