290425 PS Soils of the world (2007S)

The proseminar transfers essential knowledge on global soil distribution and soil genesis on the base of the ecozones of the world. Within the framework of the proseminar soil forming factors as climate, hydrology, topography, geology and vegetation are intensely studied. All soil forming factors are regarded in the context of physical, chemical and geomorphological processes in their natural environment. National and international (WRB) taxonomies belong to the main aspects of the course. The first part of the course will take place as lecture, the second part is arranged by the participants themselves in form of short written and oral presentations.
