Aims, contents and method of the course

Seminar in Human Geography/Regional Geography: Regional development and cross-border cooperation in the Northern periphery of Austria.
Aim of this course is to discuss and analyze the characteristic demographic and socio-economic problems of a typical peripheral region in Northern Austria, the "Waldviertel". The second focus of the course is on the various strategies and programs implemented by various regional planning initiatives. Finally the potential chances and risks of an intensified cross-border cooperation with Austria¿s Northern neighbour, the Czech Republic, is discussed.
