Information

Aims, contents and method of the course

Learn to communicate scientific results clearly and appropriately for the target group of partners, clients and the public, theory and practice of the various forms of media, journalism and professional writing are conveyed
Techniques:
* Knowledge transfer: media studies, science's commitment to modern public relations
* Writing techniques: forms of print journalism, blogs, tweets, creative writing)
* Perform public appearances (discussion events, media interviews, lectures) with confidence
* Negotiation skills and communicative skills in working groups and projects
For students of all faculties, the course must be taken at the University of Vienna.

Assessment and permitted materials

Course with an intrinsic examination character
Attendance should be at least 75%, due to group works on a common project with distributed tasks

Minimum requirements and assessment criteria

Learning content:
Storytelling
Competent active use of various print, online and video media
Learning of writing and communication techniques
Ability to impart complex specialist knowledge in a transdisciplinary manner
Magazine production, creation of editorial plans
Steering and leading teams and work groups through clear instructions

Examination topics

After brief theoretical inputs, the participants work individually or in small groups on tasks that have to be completed either on site or by the next course.
