Aims, contents and method of the course

ATTENTION: course is online only this semester!!!

This computer-based laboratory exercises is provided for students of the second part of all branches of study in Biology but also provided in Computer Science, Landscape Planing and Geography.
Content: This computer-based laboratory exercise will develop basic and practical skills of handling spatial data in a specific GIS environment (QGIS and ESRI ArcGIS 10.x).
Attendance of the associated lecture is compulsory - theory taught there is the basis for the exercises in the computer-lab!
Main topics will be:
-Data Acquisition and Integration
-Data generation
-spatial reference systems
-Catography
-Analyses of spatial data
-Data(base) Management

All exercises have to be done for completion of the course. Details for each exercise are given in the course.
