Live classes are accompanied by self study phases in between - this course is BLENDED LEARNING!

It is necessary that you come prepared to class for we will discuss and repeat the theory in small groups before we move into the practical part (each time - except for the first meeting)

Information

Aims, contents and method of the course

ATTENTION: this course is online - self study AND live Zoom Classes! --> blended learning
That means that most of the study time is self study and you have to make sure that you schedule enough time for working on the assignments and the theory! The Wednesday live Classes are mandatory!

This computer-based course is provided for all students who deal with spatial data, mapping and spatial analyses.

Content: In this course you will develop basic and practical skills of handling spatial data in a specific GIS environment (QGIS - actual version).

Main topics will be:
-Data Acquisition and Integration
-Data generation
-spatial reference systems
-Catography
-Analyses of spatial data
-Data(base) Management

Tech prerequisites:
* stable internet connection
*Laptop or Mac (Smartphone or Tablet are not sufficiant!)
*Mouse with wheel (essential for digitizing!)
*software: QGIS (FOSS) in the latest LTR verison

Assessment and permitted materials

Five components add up to the overall grade:

1. For the theoretical part there will be an online quiz available in Moodle from beginning of Nov till the end of Semester

2. For the practical part you have to upload all 3 assignments (Moodle)

3. You also have to attend the live meetings and work on exercises during that time. All Exercises have to be uploaded in moodle.

Minimum requirements and assessment criteria

All assignments, all exercises and the quiz have to be completed. Details for each assignment are provided during the course .
Max points per assignment : 100
Max points for Quiz : 100

85 - 100 p Sehr gut
76 - 85 p Gut
61 - 75 p Befriedigend
56-60 p Genügend
0-55 p Nicht Genügend
