Aims, contents and method of the course
The aim of the course "Introduction to Bioarchaeology" is to familiarize students with the research field of bioarchaeology in general and to convey the basics of the individual methods and research areas. Assessment and permitted materials
// Assessment of the active participation within the course and active work with the contents on Moodle.// Assessment of a seminar paper on a selected topic of the course: 20 000 characters [+/- 10%] of text including spaces, references, bibliography and (where applicable) illustrations as well as list of figures. The topics, formatting requirements and further information will be announced on Moodle.// A written exam with two questions to answer in each case from the topics dealt with in the UE druing the last session.
Minimum requirements and assessment criteria
In addition to regular and active attendance, the partial achievements from the active participation within the course and active work with the contents on Moodle (30%), the seminar paper (30%), and the written exam (40%) are taken into account. It is permitted for three (two-hour) units to be absent, if this is announced in good time in advance to the coordinator of the course under the indication of valid reasons. In addition to the presence mentioned above, at least 60% have to be reached for a positive assessment of the course.

The examination material corresponds to the content of the individual units (the lectures are provided as PDF files on Moodle) as well as the reading lists specified for each unit (these will be provided on Moodle too).
