Information

Aims, contents and method of the course

Better understanding of the morphology of the vertebrate skull, the front limbs and viscera in a functional and evolutionary context.

Assessment and permitted materials

Compulsory attendance. In justified cases it is allowed to miss one day. Drawings of the dissected specimens (Weighting: 70%) and an oral presentation (in groups) focusing on the dissected specimen on the last day of course (Weighting: 30%).

Minimum requirements and assessment criteria

Students will learn basic comparative anatomy of selected representatives of vertebrates. During the course, teams of two students are dissecting one specimen. Aim of the course is, that the students are able to understand comparative aspects of vertebrate evolution at the end of this course.

Examination topics

Lectures of selected topics will be given on several days of the course. Afterwards, dissections will be carried out.

Reading list

Literature will be provided during the course.
Bring your own dissection instruments, lab coat and drawing utensils.
