Aims, contents and method of the course

Introduction to systematics and morphology of important economic plants; introduction to major biosynthetic pathways leading to secondary plant metabolites in selected economic plants; communication of relevant topics from both parts in relation to functional and applied aspects, preferably across different scientific fields, presented by the students in the seminar part.

Combined credit from lecture and seminar
Lecture, written exam: 50%
Seminar, presentation by students: 50%

Examination topics

Lecture: introductory talks including demonstration of relevant plants
Seminar: independant study on supplementary topics from the lecture part, presentation by students
