The seminar focuses on a particular topic in evolutionary theory each semester and aims to illuminate it using a series of papers or book chapters, including classical seminal papers and books that have set the stage of todays thinking in evolutionary biology.
In this semester, we will focus on 2 classic influential books:Major Transitions in Evolution, by Maynard Smith and Szathmary (1995)
and
Evolution of Individuality, by Leo Buss (1987)The readings will be provided on Moodle.

Aims, contents and method of the course
The seminar focuses on a particular topic in evolutionary theory each semester and aims to illuminate it using a series of papers or book chapters, including classical seminal papers that have set the stage of todays thinking in evolutionary biology.
Assessment and permitted materials
Each book chapter will be discussed in interactive discussion with all participants contributing. No single presentations are asked for.

Presentation and discussion.
Examination topics
The active participation in the discussions of the book chapters.
