Information

Aims, contents and method of the course

This lecture deals with problems and concepts in systematic biology, phylogeny, and evolutionary developmental biology (evodevo). Key topics include speciation, homology vs. homoplasy, character evolution, gene expression, segmentation and mesoderm formation. Current and traditional views will be discussed in an evolutionary context using data from recent research.

Assessment and permitted materials

oral exam

Minimum requirements and assessment criteria

good understanding of the topics presented in the lecture. Questions need to be answered in full, clearly articulated sentences. Mentioning of key words or scientific terms alone results is not enough to pass the exam.
Grading system:
90-100%: Very good
75-89%: Good
60-74%: Satisfactory
50-59%: Passed
0-49%: Not passed/failed
