Classes

The course will be held as ablock of 6 days between Mo, 4.12.2017, und Tuesday, 12.12. 2017, from 9 to 17. The date for the final referat will be discussed during the Initial Meeting.
Initial Meeting on 2.10.2017, 9:00 Uhr in lecture hall II, UZA I.
Personal presence during the Initial Meeting is necessary for getting a place.

Aims, contents and method of the course

- basics of different light microscopical methods,

- fluorescence microscopy and modern laser scanning microscopy

- documentation on video and film,

(- computer enhanced video- and UV-microscopy)

Assessment and permitted materials

personal contributions during the course

analysis of an object in the light microscope with the different technique:discussion, which techniques are adequate and which are not (oral presentation)

written evaluation of study progress

Minimum requirements and assessment criteria

Light microscopical techniques are standards for biological questions; therefore, the knowledge of these methods is essential in biology. This course is dealing with the methods that are linked to the light microscope.

Examination topics

Light microsc.: bright field, dark field, phase- and interference contrast, polarization

Fluorescence micr.: conventioanal and confocal laser scanning microsc.

(Video- and UV microscopy)
