The course is held in form of a project, i.e. a problem in settlement ecology is formulated. The students are to form groups and work on the given problem. This should enable them to learn how to acquire and handle data on ecosystems, especially those concerning energy and material balances. The corporate product of the course should be a comprehensive paper designed as a project report.
