Information
Aims, contents and method of the course
This laboratory course will teach attendants how to specifically detect and identify prokaryotes in environmental and medical samples using the full cycle rRNA approach and FISH with rRNA-targeted oligonucleotide probes. The experiments performed will provide in-depth insights into parameters relevant for nucleic acid hybridization techniques and will expose students to epifluorescence- and confocal laser scanning microscopy. In addition, attendants will learn how to apply digital image analysis to extract quantitative data from FISH experiments.
