The course always takes place on Wednesdays (first date 04.10.2020) in room 2A225 (UZAII) from 08:00 - 09:30.
The last course session will take place on 12.12.2023 from 09:00 - 16:00 in the Natural History Museum.
Information
Aims, contents and method of the course
This course uses both theoretical and practical approaches to provide a comprehensive overview of the origin of the various basal vertebrate lineages and their taxonomic diversity through time within a phylogenetic and evolutionary framework. This course examines the evolution of major vertebrate novelties and the impact of variable preservation potentials on their fossil record. Students will explore key Palaeozoic, Mesozoic, and Cenozoic localities.
Assessment and permitted materials
There will be two continual assessments, each of which will account for 50% of the total mark. The evaluation is based on points. The exact procedure will be explained on the first day of the course.
Minimum requirements and assessment criteria
More than 60% must be achieved from both continual assessments.

1. Drawings of a representative specimens (at least three).
2. Presentation of a basal vertebrate group on last course day in the Natural History Museum (12.12.2023).
