Information
Aims, contents and method of the course
The field trip introduces students into the major coastal ecosystems of the Central California Coast, including kelp forests, rocky shores, sandy beaches, mudflats, dunes and Coastal Redwood forests. The coast is rich in marine mammals (sea otters, sea lions, harbour seals, elephant seals and whales). We will visit an elephant seal colony and participate in a whale watching trip to see migrating Gray whales and visit the Monterey Bay Aquarium. During a stay at a marine biological station students will work on group projects.
