The following preparation steps will be exercised in practice: Chemical fixation (glutaraldehyde, paraformaldehyde, OsO4), dehydration, embedding in epoxy resin, thin-and ultrathin sectioning with ultramicrotomes, contrasting of sections, evaluation and interpretation of the results in the TEM.
A preview will be given concerning advanced sample preparation techniques based on cryotechniques, which all build up on basic skills trained during our course.
