Classes
A preparatory meeting will take place on friday, October 2, at 9:00 in ÜR7, UZA 1, Althanstrasse. Apart from an overview on organisation and dates of this course, we will probabely also have a safety instructions tour on that day.
The course takes place on mondays, 13.00 - 18.00, wednesdays 15.00 -18.00 and fridays, 9.00 - 13.00, plus additional dates according to consultation and individual bachelor projects.

Aims, contents and method of the course
Students know the physiological state of plant cells after application of exernal stress factors (e.g. metals, UV light, osmotic); preparation of living samples of different cell and tissue types, specific staining methods, basics of light microscopy, optical contrast methods and their application in cell physiology, micro-photography and practical skills at different microscope models
Assessment and permitted materials
Presence and active participation, mid term tests, oral presentation of the individual project, protocol/Bachelor thesis
Minimum requirements and assessment criteria
Active participation/presence, Written protocol/Bachelor thesis: 50% (50 Punkte)
Mid term tests: 20% (20 Punkte)
oral presentation: 30% (30 Punkte)
Mid term tests: 20% (20 Punkte)
oral presentation: 30% (30 Punkte)
Examination topics
The cell and its content, principals of light microscopy including optical contrast methods, application and discussion of techniques within a final protocol/bachelor thesis
