Aims, contents and method of the course
How did a structure as complex as our own brain ever evolve? The seminar is discussing various structural and functional aspects of nervous system organisation ranging from simples nerve nets in cnidaria to multilayered cortical areas in primates. Topics include among other "Human Brain Evolution", "Neuronal Proliferation and adult neurogenesis", "Brain Organisation of Reptiles and Birds", "Brain Patterning", "Sensory Systems", "Candidate Genes for Brain Evolution".
