Information

Aims, contents and method of the course

Introduction to botanical-morphological terminology and its application to describing and determining of vascular plants; knowledge of the most important vascular plant species of the central European flora including their ecological position.
An introductory lecture is followed by practical analyses by the participants with support from the lecturers and tutors.

Assessment and permitted materials

In total 80 points can be earned. These are distributed among four parts as follows:
a) Drawings: 4 points
b) 3 short written tests 10 points each (one of those can be used as void result that does not contribute to the final score: this may be the one with the lowest score or a missed one): 30 points
c) Determination and analysis of an unknown plant (i.e., one that has not been covered during the course): 20 points
d) oral final exam (on all topics covered during the course): 36 points
Assessment starts on the first course day and finishes with the final oral exam. The first three assessments (a-c in the above list) are made during the course units, the fourth one (d in the above list) can be made the latest until the 30th September 2019.

In order to be able to finish the course, no more than two missed course units (two days) are permitted.

Minimum requirements and assessment criteria

Minimum requirements for a positive grade are: 41 points.

Credit key:
0-40 points: failed
41-50 points: sufficient
51-60 points: satisfactory
61-70 points: good
71-80 points: excellent
