Aims, contents and method of the course
Assessment and permitted materials
Attendance control, oral group presentation of project outcomes, finally written exam (2 hours) in October.
Minimum requirements and assessment criteria
The participants are aware of the most important ecological principles acting in aquatic habitats. Students are able to sample aquatic biota and to acquire physical and chemical field data. Students are trained in using relevant identification keys for aquatic biota and are able to use their bioindication potential. They are also able to perform presentations of their teamwork results.
Examination topics
Introductory lectures (powerpoint presentations), guided field work (mapping, equipment training, data collection) at a multitude of aquatic habitat types in the surroundings of Lunz and guided data analyses in the lab. Handouts are distributed at the start of the course.
