Information

Aims, contents and method of the course

This course offers training for the identification of larvae, pupae and adults of Central European Trichoptera. Special keys are provided. In introductory talks information on taxonomy, biology, ecology as well as identification, preservation and sampling techniques are given, and the most important literature is presented.
Exam: identification of 2 specimens, using the provided keys.

Assessment and permitted materials

Attendance control and final exam (identification of 2 specimens using the provided keys). The exam date will be announced at the start of the course.

Minimum requirements and assessment criteria

Participants are trained in identification skills of Central European Trichoptera and are able to use the keys. They have a good overview of the species inventory of the region and know the most important literature on the subject.

Examination topics

Introductory lectures for each taxonomic unit; guided identification work on larval, pupal and adult material using special keys and binocular microscopes. The keys are distributed at the beginning of the course.
